EB Automotive Film Coating Curing
Scratch, Stain & Weather-Resistant Surface Coatings
EBR roll-to-roll EB systems support the curing of surface coatings for paint protection films, automotive window films, interior and exterior decorative films, and formed films for IMD, IML, and OMD applications.
Automotive films are exposed to sunlight, rain, temperature changes, cleaning agents, abrasion, fingerprints, and bending and forming processes. Their surface coatings need to maintain transparency, gloss, and appearance while providing scratch, stain, and yellowing resistance.
Conventional thermal curing and some UV curing systems can face limitations in curing depth, heat load, residual odor, or surface performance when used with thick coatings, dark-colored films, highly transparent films, heat-sensitive substrates, or demanding weather-resistance requirements. EB curing directly initiates reactions in the coating using electrons, enabling highly crosslinked surfaces with relatively low heat input for high-performance automotive film applications.
What EB Can Do for Automotive Films
01 | Paint Protection Film Coating Curing
For TPU, TPH, and other paint protection films, EB can cure surface coatings designed for scratch resistance, stain resistance, weather resistance, resistance to cleaning agents, fingerprint and water-spot resistance, and long-term appearance retention.
02 | Automotive Window Film Coating Curing
For PET automotive window films, EB can cure hard coats and wear-resistant protective coatings to improve scratch resistance during installation, everyday cleaning durability, and long-term optical clarity.
03 | Automotive Interior & Exterior Decorative Film Coating Curing
For IMD, IML, and OMD formed films, as well as high-gloss, textured, display, and paint-replacement decorative films used in automotive interiors and exteriors, EB can cure surface coatings designed for appearance durability and surface protection.
